MHA says they're committed to protecting residents

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The issue of affordable healthcare in America is a concern, but the Missouri Hospital Association wants individuals who don't have insurance or who are underinsured to know that hospitals provide a safety net regardless of a person's ability to pay.

Missouri Hospitals provided over $3 billion in total community benefit in 2018 with $1.5 billion of that going to uncompensated care.

Spokesperson for the Missouri Hospital Association Dave Dillion told KXCV/KRNW that hospitals are committed to protecting and serving everyone in their communities especially as the country continues to address the coronavirus.

Hospitals can absorb the unpaid cost of caring for the uninsured or underinsured by treating the beneficiaries of Medicare and Medicaid, educating and training the health care workforce, and offering free or reduced clinic services.
